icff show in new york

The International Contemporary Furniture Fair is was held this past week and the internet is awash with photos and product call outs. As I scan them I will post anything that seems relevant to us at workalicious.

This great desk and chair was posted by Dan Gregory over at the Eye on Design blog at houseplans.com. It is from the Oslo Line by Andrew Moe. I love it. It has a shaker x mid century mod vibe that really appeals to me. Built sustainably from recycled lumber to boot.

Furniture company Council is showing the Drake chair which looks like it could be a contender in our $100 plastic chair review, although it seems to be of welded steel.. Found at the A/N blog and Metropolis.

  1. Given that Council Design's Mute lounge chair (the most beautiful lounge of the 21st cent., IMHO) runs $3200 ($4300 with ottoman), I am going to bet these chairs will run at least $300-$400. I do hope I am wrong though, because they are very cool.

  2. Wholesale prices run 50-60% of published retail prices. A contact in the industry can often help you get that lower price.

  3. Before we went with Dodo chairs from Cassina (from europebynet and in a more kid friendly leather than the Dodo's wool), I called up Council Design and asked about a local showroom. They said they had no dealers in Texas, but woud be glad to send us what ever we wanted at the price I mentioned above (plus shipping). Had they offered us 60% of list, they'd be sitting in our living room right now.
