The Tobias chair by Ikea really is the $100 plastic chair, perhaps the only one we've looked at in our search for the perfect $100 plastic chair that actually costs $100.
The Tobias is so simple that it works as a modern yet inexpensive chair. It comes in black and clear/chrome, so if the lucite + chrome vibe is your thing this may very well be one of the few chairs in this price range that you can get with that look.

Allow me to endorse this chair as well. Although I don't own it, I've tested it in the store. It's a solid, comfortable chair. And the clear/chrome model looks amazing -- certainly on par w/ much more expensive chairs I've seen. I've been trying to figure out how to work a few of these into my space ever since.
HI -
Can anyone tell me if these are durable? I'd like to buy a set of 6 for my dining table but hesitate to buy anything unbless I really know that it's sturdy/durable. (My last chairs, handmade birdcage chairs, are cracking after 1.5 years.. :(
I don't have any first hand experience with these June, but perhaps another reader does?
I do have first hand experience with Ikea's Urban chair:

My wife has these in her shop and they get a lot of use, are comfortable, and have held up very well.
