time to look at seating

time to look at seating

Yes, the 800 pound gorilla in the room since I started this blog is seating. Everybody that spends a good deal of time working at a desk should have a decent task chair, so we are going to look at task seating. The other area I want to concentrate on will be the inexpensive plastic chair - ideally a $100 plastic chair. You can't really get a chair that is sturdy and will last for that price, but we'll let it be a benchmark. The reason I think this is an important chair type is because we all need additional seating besides our task chair in our office. But if you are going to get six chairs for a meeting table they have to be reasonably affordable, and they have to have some design presence to them.

Ok, look for seating coming up for a while, there's a lot to look at, and if you love chairs like we love chairs, it will be fun. Send in your favorites and we'll share them.

  1. I love this chair:

But I can't afford it. Do you think a $300 knockoff would be a bad move?

  2. That's an Eames soft pad group task chair. Its a crap shoot with knock offs. Sometimes they are great, sometimes they fall apart in a few years - and I mean the metal moving parts wear out on cheap chairs, not just the upholstry. If you get an original you could easily have it the rest of your life.
